It was a family day out for a small group of Cambridge Harriers taking on the Vitality London 10km in Hatfield Park. A beautiful sunny morning meant for some lovely running conditions. A mass start allowed for a welcome change to the time trial style events we have been accustomed to. This caused a bottle neck to start with and meant for a slower than expected start to the race.
It was hilly and rough under foot for the majority of the course which meant no personable bests, although a very enjoyable race. There were still some excellent achievements from the Cambridge Harriers that raced. Susan Dixon clocked 42.41, coming through as the 5th lady and 1st in her age category (W55). Sally Carr was the next Harrier to finish clocking 49.52 and coming in 5th in her age category (W50). Madeline Carr also ran with a time of 1.02 and finished with a huge smile on her face!
Liam Carr took part in the mile race with an unofficial time of 6.01 and came 2nd in the U18 category. A great achievement on what sounds like a challenging course!
