Only fifteen of our youngsters braved the mud and hills of Stanmer Park Brighton for the SEAA Cross Country Championships. However they all performed well with Ailbhe Barnes once again showing her big race temperament to come home 10th in the U15 girls race. She was as high as 6th after the first lap but was caught by a chasing group up the last hill and dropped to 15th. Her strong finish including two in the sprint brought her up to 10th equalling last year’s placing in the U13 age group.
Ethan
A return to form plus from Ethan Fiore saw him just fail to make the top thirty in 31st but beating some of those Invicta boys who have dominated the U13 boys in Kent so far this season. James Barnes battled well to come through to 58th with Theo Treadwell returning to form in 162nd. The rest of our promising U13 boys had school commitments so we failed to finish a team for the first time.
We did manage our only team finish in the U15 boys with Louis Woods continuing his fine form in 65th with Ayub Salaad thankfully getting blocked at the start so not mixing it at the front so he finished in 146th. John Okomayin outsprinted Luca Treadwell for 191st. This gave us 24th team. Elsewhere Joshua Olawunmi was 42nd in the U17 men’s race despite a reoccurrence of his hip injury and Evan Chandler had his best run this season in 75th. Joe Collins came home 166th. Madeline Tynan ran well to finish 54th with Katie Marsh 201st in the U13 girls whilst Molly Hawkins came 56th in the U20 women’s race and Reece Miles was 58th in the U20 men’s one
