Lee Valley
Seven of our veteran athletes competed at the British Masters Athletic Federation (BMAF) Track and Field indoor championships, held at Lee Valley on 7th & 8th March.
Jenny: W50 shot put Silver
Between them they achieved 5 podium places: Wole Odele Gold in the M55 400m, and bronze in the M55 60m. Tim Carter bronze in the M65 400m. Shot putters Natalie Mann and Jenny Agyepong both came away with Silver medals, Natalie in the W35 shot, and Jenny in the W50 competition.
Natalie: W35 shot put Silver, javelin Silver, hammer Bronze
There were other creditable performances. Wole mis-timed his sprint to the line in the M55 800m in a close battle for 2nd & 3rd place, so just missed out on the Bronze medal. Neb Jovanovic finished with two 4th places in the M40 800m and the M40 1500m. Ray Daniel placed 9th in the M60 800m. Matthew Preston two 6th places in the M45 800m & 1500m events. The outdoor winter throws, although not officially considered part of the national championship, medals are still awarded. Natalie competed in the W35 hammer, where she won Bronze; and finished with Silver in the javelin competition. A very rewarding weekend. The BMAF competition is for athletes age 35 and older – there are no limits! The weekend of 7/8th March saw a record entry of 652 athletes forming 1364 competitors!
