Cambridge Harriers have repeated 2016’s placing and finished fourth in the England Athletics Men’s Marathon Team Championships, incorporated into the London Marathon, according to provisional results. In the three-to-score competition Ben Shearer (2:25:14), Phil Dickens (2:30:25) and Dean Lacy (2:32:26) finished in a cumulative time of 7:28:05.
Kent AC and Serpentine were tied in joint second a 57 seconds behind winners Belgrave Harriers, who won with an aggregate time of 7:16:51. Last year’s third place team, Bournemouth AC finished 1m 4s behind Cambridge this year in fifth.
Back-to-back fourth places finishes reflects the quality coaching at the club, and the challenge for our marathoners next year is to go one better and get a medal.
