Kent Champs medals and PBs in Paddock Wood

Cambridge Harriers had an excellent turnout at this weekend’s Paddock Wood Half Marathon. Always a popular race with our road runners, this event also doubled up as the the Kent County Champs for veteran and team categories.

Ben Shearer was first club member home, finishing fifth overall in 1:09:58. In doing so, Ben also picked up third place in the Men’s V40 Champs.

Christian Poulton finished with a chip time of 1:18:57, which secured Christian first place in the Kent V50 Champs.

We picked up a third county medal with a third place finish in the men’s team race behind Kent AC and Maidstone and Medway. Along with Ben Shearer, Phil Dickens with 1:11:38 and Andy Inglis running 1:13:36 made up the team in the first three to score competition.

There were new PBs for Nebojsa Jovanovic in 1:13:53, Steve Hodges in 1:13:56 and James MacDonald in 1:14:31. Rob Shearer, finishing in 1:17:57, pipped Mitch Dann, who ran 1:18:21, to claim bragging rights for the journey home after a nip and tuck battle all the way around. All looking in good shape ahead of the London Marathon in three weeks time.

Peter St-Amour ran 1:26:29 and Dom Fiore ran a PB of 1:27:20. Graham Maynard came home in 1:30:13. Josh Bugg ran 1.23:58, Kate Mitchell 1:53:21 and Monica Whitefield a strong V50 1:53:41
