Kent Relay Champs

Updated: Jan 13, 2021

The club fielded nineteen teams at last Sundays’ Country relay championships at Norman Park. A good day was had by all and there was some excellent running and baton changing on display. The event was very competitive but we still managed to come away with one Gold, five silver and four bronze medals. Pride of place went to the Under 15 Girls 4×100 team who took on the might of Blackheath’s youngsters and beat them in a time of 50.3 to equal the club record set back in 1998. With three of the team still under 15 next season it bodes very well for next year. The same squad of Esther Jackson, Marian Owusuwaah, Rebecca Maddy and Bryanna Kacou also took bronze in the 4x300m. The under 13 Girls ran the same squad in the 4×1 and 4×2 and came away with silver medals in both, the under 15 boys also got second in the 4×100 only to be disqualified fora faulty baton change. The Under 17 Women picked up a silver in the 4×2 and a bronze in the 4×1 whilst the under 17 Men got a bronze in both. The Senior men got better as the day went on finishing 4th in the 4×1, then 2nd in the 4×2 then 3rd and 4th in the 4×4 with two teams. Finally the senior Women took a well earned 2nd in their 4×400.
