KYAL League Match 1 – Under 13 Girls

Updated: Jan 12, 2021

A blazing hot day at Norman Park saw our under 13s girls team take to the track & field for their first Kent league match of the season, with some athletes competing for the first time in the under 13s girls team. Considering the size of the competition and the amount of competitors they were up against at this match compared to the last YDL league match, they did really well and didn’t buckle under the pressure.

A few stand-out performances of the day include Cerys Daniels’ 70m hurdle race of 12.85 (new pb) which earned her 2nd place, Strel Tukala’s debut in the non-scoring 150m sprints where she clocked a great time powering home in 20.43, Abigail Babalola’s debut in the non-scoring 75m Sprint where she won 3rd place in a time of 11.55, and Katie Marsh’s debut in the hammer where she threw a distance of 16.46m, which bodes really well for her future in this event. Well done to Orla too for trying out so many different events over the last two competitions, and following a quick lesson in the shot put from her coach Kenny, managed to throw 4.39m in the A string shot put.  Quite a positive start to the Kent League for the 6 under 13s girls who attended with lots more to look forward to in the forthcoming weeks, and following their fantastic performance at the first YDL league match a few weeks ago where all but two members of the team were debuting for the club.

Apologies for anyone Kenny missed, he tried his best to get as many as he could but with events clashing etc. unfortunately couldn’t get everyone:-
