LEE VALLEY
With a return to restricted competitons starting off with a series of pilot events all over the country, 4 Harriers were quick out of the blocks at the covid-secure LICC meeting on the weekend of 1st and 2nd August. Events on the first day featured U15/U17 athletes whilst the 2nd day was for U20s, seniors and vets. Social distancing guidelines meant that track athletes only raced in the odd-numbered lanes. There were PBs all round for the younger athletes, all competing in the 100m - despite running into a strong headwind, with Dejaune Lingard fastest on the day in 11.63s. Shaquille Fernandez-folkes also set a best of 11.98s, and Kacey Walters went under 14 seconds for the first time, to finish in 13.81s. Wole Odele also managed to improve on his best indoor time from March in the 400m, finishing in 57.90s.
A second pair of LICC meetings are scheduled to take place again at Lee Valley on 15th (U15/U17) and 16th (Seniors, U20s and Masters) August, which should consist of the following events: 300mH / 400mH, 200m, 800m, Hammer, Javelin, High Jump and Pole Vault.
