Friday evening, the 15th July was thankfully comfortably mid 20’s for the 3rd of four SCVAC League meetings at Tonbridge. The men’s team were hoping for 3rd place.
Wole Odele was our only winner of the night in the M50 400m in 60.0. There was a very consistent set of 2nd and 3rd places in the throws, jumps and track.
In the hammer, Peter Wishart (above left) was 2nd in the M60 with 27.66, Paris Hunt was third in the M50 in 20.76, Michael Pape (above right) was 5th in the M35 with 17.92. In the high jump Wole was joint 2nd with 1.36 and Paris Hunt 3rd in the M35 with 1.36.
On the Track, in the 400m, Mark Ashby was 3rd in the M60 with 67.6. Ian McCarthy was 6th in the M35 B string with 79.7, Neb Jovanovic was 4th in the M35A string with 58.2. In the 1500m Dom Fiore was 3rd in 4:59.0. David Worden was 2nd in the M35 B string with 4:34.6 and Chris Loudon, who front ran the race was pipped in the last 100m and claimed 2nd place in 4:12.0. Peter Reynolds ran non-scoring 1500m in 4:38.4. The team were 4th in the 4x400 in 4:01.5 with the following splits; Wole 63.6, Chris 57.5, David 61.3, Neb 59.1.
The men’s team finished a comfortable 3rd of the 6 Division 1 teams, giving us 3rd place overall, 2 points ahead of Medway and Maidstone. Wole was the highest scoring athlete of the match, responsible for 14 points. The last match is less than two weeks away at Dartford on the 29th July.
