It was a nice cool (turning to cold come relay time) evening at Central Park in Dartford with a gentle helpful breeze along the finishing straight. We pulled out a long list of top 3 places and had some close calls:
Wole comfortably won the M50 200 in 26.2, 1.8 seconds in front of 2nd place, although from the shouts he thought had someone on his shoulder and pushed hard at the end.
In 1500 races Mathew Preston missed 3rd in M35 A string by 1 second with 4:35, James MacDonald came 3rd in the B string with 4:40.1, and Jerry Carnell came 3rd in M60.
In the field, Peter Wishart came 3rd in M50 Discus with 28.33, Michael and Wole came 3rd and 2nd respectively in the M35 and M50 Long jump.
Paris predicted a 29 for the 200m but surprised himself with a sub 28 in M35.
We got a very respectable 4th in the 4*100 (Wole, Tim Carter, Paris Hunt, Michael Pape); a blistering start by Wole and solid runs and change overs meant Michael had just a few meters to catch up but was pipped on the line but we were given the same time as 3rd places Bexley with 56.4
Now we have been promoted to division 1 we ended up in a very respectable 4th against some strong teams, missing 3rd (Medway and Maidstone) by one point, holding us in 4th place overall after 2 meets. Every point helps so thanks to Ian McCarthy for his interesting technique in the M60 Discus!
