A very picturess evening at Dartford, a full team sheet to start with is always promising and the team didn’t disappoint. Unfortunately in the 400m Lisa Atkinson calf tightened up with 200m metre to go, she ran the last part of the race cautiously and with the World champs in September is going to rest up now until then to let this re-accruing injury heal properly. Susan Dixon got her first PB of the night, a massive drop from 76.0 to 69.6 brining CH home in first place. It was lovely to see Joanne Murphy back in action, and although hasn’t been able to train anywhere near what she’d like, her Pilates has certainly kept her fit, in 2015 she last ran her 400m in 80.1, tonight 81.7 looking strong all round.
Out on the field Xanine and Jenny held the fort, with Xanine triple jumping and high jumping at the same time at different ends of the track, it was impressive she did both as well as she did! Running very late and having stood around waiting for the men to finish, it was Jenny Agypong who really shone tonight, smashing her PB in the Hammer from last season’s 17.81 to 27.25, well done coach Pete Wishart! Xanine made the hammer her hat trick event of the night. Also on the field Chris Bond remains un beaten winning the High Jump yet again, that’s the 3rd season in a row of straight wins, she pulls out once she has won to avoid injuring her foot which is waiting a minor operation. Ros Tabor was not going to let a gap in the W50’s triple jump happen and like others, just about made it into the sand pit!
3000m, a hot night with no drink stations! Rose Baker dropping down in the younger age group to W35 `A’ string did well, if she’d been in her own age group she would have won! Sally Carr ran the W35 `B’ string gaining a PB whilst sister Susan Dixon made her way towards the top of my long ranking list with only three in front of her. Both Sally and Susan seem to be setting PB’s every time they come out, there park runs have improved considerably too, looking promising for Malaga.
The 4 x 400m relay ended the evening nicely, with Susan Dixon getting the team off to a strong start handing over in 2nd with a strong Dartford and Tonbridge Team, Joanne Murphy, Sally Carr and Chris Bond had to settle for 3rd place overall.
