The Southern Champs in Brighton was at its toughest this year. The weather was not on our side and a downpour of rain occurred as soon as the gun went off for our start.
With hills feeling as steep as mountains they made me even walk up some of the 8K course. However, with encouraging words from another runner I picked up the pace again. Of the 351 participants, I ended up in 208th place with a time of 41.02 – not my greatest moment!
Sadly Sally was pushing through the course but had to pull out of the race half way through due to a suspected leg injury.
The downhills were a luxury and with the finishing line in sight, it made all the hard work feel worth it.
