English Schools Combined Events and Race Walk Championships, Bedford

Christian Hopper (U20) representing Kent Schools took the senior boy's race walk title over 5000m in a time of 25:26.09s.

Gabriella Noyce (U15) was the club's sole representative in the combined events championship, having been selected to represent London Schools. She finished in 31st place with 2400 points coming away with a new personal best over 800m of 2:41.91s, a five second improvement on her previous best.


Kent County Combined Event, Masters & Under 13 Championships, Erith

The last track event of the season saw the three championships held over the weekend. The Masters championships will be the subject of a separate report.


Under 13 Championships

A few of our U13’s competed whilst others gave it a miss as the football, rugby and netball seasons have commenced, reports Mick Bond.


Nia Thomas was the best of the U13 girls picking up a silver in the 70m hurdles in 12.33s whilst just missing out in the medals in the 75m flat. Celia Allen was another to just miss out on the medals running 4:13.45s for fourth place in the 1200m though it was nice to see good team back up with Celia Yeatman finishing fifth and Delilah Lester seventh.

The club’s race-walking tradition was upheld by Erika Kushnir who medalled in her first race for the club finishing third in the 2000m walk in a time of 13:11.11s


For the boys Zavier Brathwaite who broke the 13 second barrier in his first official run over 100m clocking 12.96s in the heats and then 12.89s in the final for the bronze medal. In the field Harry Noyce threw a PB of 9.01m in the shot for fifth place.


Combined Events

All three of our club competitors were making their debut in combined event competition. All three set personal bests in some of their events but were all were just outside the medals. Keziah Olaleye was fourth in the U17W heptathlon, Lily Gayle fifth in the U15G pentathlon and Elijah Olaleye fourth in the U15B pentathlon.


Friday Night 5km Under the Lights, Battersea Park

Three Cambridge Harriers travelled into Central London for the Friday Night 5km Under Lights at Battersea Park. Ben Shearer finished in 94th overall and third M45 in 15:41. Holly Dixon was 137th and third senior woman with 16:26 and Chritine Lutsch crossed the line in 173rd and second W40 clocking 19:32.
