In Tokyo Darryl Neita anchored the GB women’s team to a spectacular bronze medal in the 4x100m after helping them set a GB record of 41.50 in the heats
Back home in Blighty some of the club’s top junior competed at the England Athletics U17/U15 championships in Manchester. Dante Legister, recovered from his hamstring troubles but short on training ran a PB of 10.80s in the Under 17 100m final. A great start saw him leading for 90m before being overtaken on the line. Shawanna Williams ran both the 100 and 200 setting PB’s in both and making the final in the 200

Kent Young Athletes League: Even closer to home the club’s Under 15/U13 team had their third and best Kent League outing of the season. Competing at Tonbridge they secured a narrow 2nd place overall and are starting to close the gap on Blackheath as top team in the County
Highlights:
U13 Girls: 75m/150m double win by Emily Cadman in 10.4/20.5. Iris Williams 4.07.5 1200m win followed shortly after by a 1.30m high jump PB. Ethel Olaigbe – 6.64 shot put win plus a 18.55 discus debut
U15 Girls: Double wins for Faith Assah 100/300 (13.3/42.6) and for Gaby Noyce LJ/300 (4.42/45.8)
U13 Boys: Michael Bridge 11.43 shot put win by over 3 metres,
U 15 Boys: Joshua Baker 44.84 javelin a PB, Rahaan Beckford Collier 1.66 high jump a PB
On Saturday it was a case of the new versus the old as Tom Ravenscroft (aged 12) faced Doug Lucas, who turned 70 a week earlier over 200m at the Medway Open meeting. Youth triumphed over experience on this occasion with Tom setting a PB of 28.21 though Doug still managed to get under 30 seconds with 29.33 which puts him 3rd in the UK masters rankings
