Conditions for our 5th match at Erith were just about perfect. The evening was warm with a slight breeze. We had a very successful evening and managed 4 wins (W50 and W60 high jump, and W50 and W60 3000m).
The 2 track events were 400m and 3000m. In the W35 400m Emily Gelder was 4th in the A string, and Cara Oliver 3rd in the B. Susan Dixon ran in the W50 race and came 2nd. Joanne Murphy also ran as a non scorer, warming up for her relay leg. In the W35 3000m Cara Oliver was 3rd in the A string race. Sally Carr agreed once again to run on the night and came 4th in the B string. We won both the W50 (Rose Baker) and W60 (Ros Tabor).
The field events this time were high jump, triple jump and hammer. In the W35 high jump Emily was 3rd. Chris Bond won the W50 event, and Maria Macdonald the W60. Emily and Maria also both did the triple jump, where they both came 4th in their competitions. Jenny Agyepong was 3rd in the W35 hammer throw, despite belonging to an older age group.
The evening ended with the 4 x 400m relay, where our team of Emily, Joanne, Rose and Susan came 3rd.
All these excellent performances meant our best result so far. We were 3rd team on the night, and now lie in 3rd place overall.
The final match for this season is on Monday 17 July at Gillingham. Let’s make it our best!
